Its often been said to me 'you need to write a book' or 'you need to train as a therapist' ....... but doubt either will happen (even though I'd love to). Training to be a therapist would take years and I'm not about to embark on a new career now, and writing a book just seems too daunting (but never say never). So, as I'm into IT I thought a website / blog would be the next best thing to jot down information I've learnt and have passed onto others. Remember ... I'm not trained in anything medical and these are just my personal experience of anxiety. Always consult your Doctor. See Disclaimer.
So here goes .....
Anxiety and depression are debilitating conditions to suffer with. People often think anxiety is the same as feeling a bit nervous, like the 'butterflies in the stomach' feeling you get before an exam, or that depression is being fed up, a bit down/blue and that a good holiday would soon sort you out. It's nothing like that at all. It can be a terrifying experience, and one you simply cannot just step out of overnight.
Many factors can contribute towards this condition - upbringing, lifestyle, substance abuse, alcohol, shock, stress and many more. Whatever has caused yours, its often leads to stress, and this can then lead to anxiety. Some people thrive on stress whilst others crumble, and whilst some stress is good for us, keeps us on our toes, prolonged stress over months or years can lead to anxiety and depression, just the same as shock can too. You might be saying 'oh it wouldn't happen to me' but believe you me, you won't know its coming until its too late and its bitten you hard on the bum.
You can get through this, you can recover. I hope my experience through this condition and recovery will help others too.
